Fruit of Thy Hands~
17th c Detached Beadwork Techniques
This class focuses on fully detached beadwork techniques, like those used in making 17th Century beaded baskets. While making the above sprig of beaded strawberry fruits, blossom, and leaves, students will learn how to navigate the challenges of beading over a spun cotton watte base, wired leaf techniques, and making three-dimensional beaded flowers. They will also learn how to assemble all their pieces into a cohesive finished bouquet.
This class provides an excellent base set of techniques that can be applied toward making larger 17th-style beadwork baskets, such as the one seen above. Even though they are different sizes and shapes than what I will teach in class, everything you see above can be made using the same basic technique!
I designed this class as an economical way to teach you the basic skills of making large-scale 17th c detached beadwork techniques~ there is no limit to the fantabulous things you can make using my techniques ~ from tiny brooches, casket toys, beaded caskets, and baskets....even if you just want to incorporate a few beaded elements into your otherwise silk embroidery, this class is for you!
Everything you need to complete the strawberry sprig shown above is included with your class kit~ glass beads, needles, wires, spun cotton forms, silks, thread, patterns & support! All fully downloadable instructions are provided through the Diamond K Folk Art Online Academy.
Class will begin upon enrollment, and you will have access to the content for 6 months to allow you ample time to complete your project. (this project can be completed in about a week's time or less).
The cost of the class is $225.00 plus shipping. If you are interested, please drop me a line at rlkinnison@yahoo.com, and I will invoice you directly through PayPal.
